It’s All About Social Media
Conferences, social media March 23rd, 2007Earlier this month I attended a great conference here in Phoenix. ”The Marketing Revolution – Exploring the Impact of Social Media” was loaded with information and resources for someone like me who is just getting started in the blogsphere. (Can you tell?)
Speakers included Robert Scoble (blogger extraordinaire) and Chris Heuer (co-founder of the Social Media Club). And two panels covered launching social media campaigns (lively interaction) and shared social media case studies (great examples).
Presentations, video, and audio are available for your edification and enjoyment. Check ‘em out!
One of the conference partners was Social Media Club Phoenix, which has a blog and wiki, of course! These local organizations are a great way to get together with other enthusiasts for a lively discussion about all things social media.
And one last thought (shameless promotion, actually). I’m thinking that web collaboration tools (like Elluminate Live! and Elluminate vRoom) would be a great additions to your social media toolset. Offering online access is also a good way for social media groups to get more attendees at their meetings and events.

Sorry, not quite on the topic of this entry, but I wanted to pass this tip along. Perhaps if you find it useful you will blog it into a main entry for others to find.
You can set your Yahoo Instant Messenger to show that you are in your Vrooon office and open to visitors by using the “New Status Message” tool. Just enter something like “My Office is Open” and then ctrl V to paste in your participant’s logon screen address. What others that have you on their Yahoo IM friend’s list will see will be an active link. If they click it, they will immediately go to the participant log on screen. This is great for communicating irregular office hours and making it quick to drop in.
